The Fiddlin' Phil Strings Method
The 2 pieces we offer for free here can be used for individual students with the backing tracks and or for group lessons - I have used these pieces with classes of 30 violin students - you can print and photocopy this music or copy onto OHP to facilitate a large class or workshop. Students find "La Bamba", a traditional Mexican song, to be a lot of fun. Sonata on A features an easy open strings part as well as easy melody - in the large strings class situation, you will always find amongst 30 students, a couple of kids who may have been learning for a few years - it is good classroom management to provide some extension for these experienced students.

FPSM Teacher's Handbook Samples
The "Fiddlin' Phil Strings Method" Teacher's Handbook contains a complete teaching program, cross-referenced to the student books and to the listening CD. There are also theory worksheets and piano accompaniments. The FPSM Teacher's Handbook can be purchased separately but is provided for free when you buy any of the class packs.

The Classic Music Set
This is a set of 4 books - violin, viola, cello & double bass - each of these books can be used for individual students and comes with a quality backing CD with real instruments - each piece is featured with melody and backing then backing only at THREE different speeds - in this sample, the backing track is only at performance speed. The piece that is offered here is 'A Distant Land' from 'Scenes From Childhood' by Schumman. Each book also has a 'Hot Tips' Section at the beginning, containing program notes and points of technique - a sample page from the violin hit tips is also provided here. You are welcome to download the PDF's of this piece and also the backing track and use it for individual students, or using the combination of melody and ensemble parts, make your own flexible arrangement for string quartet, trio, duets or full string orchestra.
